July 24 is International Self-Care Day. It is observed every year since 2011, and marks the end of International Self-Care Month.
It was established by the International Self-Care Foundation.
The purpose of International Self-Care Day is a global awareness day dedicated to expressing the importance of self-care practices to raise awareness about the significance of self-love, and to remind people that taking care of themselves is not selfish but necessary for leading a fulfilling and balanced life.
Encouraging individuals to take proactive measures to maintain their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, promote better health outcomes, reduce stress, and enhance the quality of life.
These activities can vary widely from person to person but often include things like getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, engaging in regular exercise, managing stress, seeking emotional support, and taking time for relaxation and hobbies. These activities should be practiced on a daily and consistent basis, not just one day a year.
July 24, when written in the month and date format, looks like 7/24 - denoting that self-care should be performed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What are you doing to take care of yourself?
Take an exercise class, a hike, learn a new skill, participate in a fun event, take a nap, plant some flowers, cook a healthy meal, call someone you care about, meditate, laugh, smile and have fun.
Make a list of the things that make you feel good, then do them.
Be Fantastic and Grateful Every Day….
