Wow, it really is one of the most beautiful places I've seen.
Sedona, located in northern Arizona, is a picturesque and popular tourist destination known for its stunning red rock, vibrant arts scene, Spiritual healing, and outdoor recreational opportunities.
Located in the high desert at 4,500 feet above sea level, it is surrounded by 1.8 million acres of national forest land and buttressed by four wilderness areas and two state parks. Its breathtaking red rock angular formations, high mesas, rocky cliffs, and canyons are composed of sandstone and limestone. The iron in the soil oxidized then rusted, causing the deep red color.
This is a landscape built for adventure! Sedona offers numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, off-roading, picnicking, and bird watching.
There are a variety of tours available.
We took the Pink Jeep tour. What a blast!
(The jeeps are painted pink in recognition of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki.)
Sedona has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and mild winters. Spring and fall have the most pleasant weather.
Sedona has a reputation as a center for spiritual and metaphysical experiences. Many people believe that the area has unique energy or vortexes that enhance meditation and healing practices.
What is a vortex? Swirling centers of energy which are thought to be conducive to healing, meditation, and self-exploration. These are places where the earth seems particularly alive with energy.
I plan to experience them when I return.
When I went into The Chapel of the Holy Cross, I truly was touched by the Holy Spirit. What an inspiring and uplifting feeling.
Sedona's location makes for a convenient base when exploring other attractions like the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and the ancient cliff dwellings at Montezuma Castle National Monument.
This town has so much to offer: a wide range of casual cafes to upscale restaurants with amazing views of the red rock formations. Boutiques, New Age shops, Art galleries, Spas, Wellness centers, and Yoga retreats are plentiful.
A few of the annual events are: the Sedona International Film Festival, the Sedona Arts Festival, and the Sedona Yoga Festival. #Sedona #SedonaAZ #BeautifulSedona #ArizonaSedona #SedonaArizona #SedonaYoga
